On most of the Fridays of Lent—check the Bulletin or event calendar for specific dates -- the Parish Life Commission and Adult Faith Formation offer a light, meatless meal of Soup and Bread at 5:30 pm for all parishioners in the Fireplace Room. Free-will offerings are accepted to cover costs.
Stations of the Cross follow at 7:00 pm in the Church.
This event, sponsored by the St. Isaac Jogues Men's Group, takes place in the Parish Center one Friday during Lent after the 5:00 pm Mass
The Lenten Fish Fry features:
Tickets are sold in advance and at the door. Proceeds go toward the ministry of the SIJ Men's Group for bringing in speakers and hosting events to build community and faith among the men of our parish.
As part of our Lenten practice of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, parishioners have the opportunity to provide direct support to one or more selected organizations and funds that help those in our community who face physical and/or financial challenges. Parishioners can take an envelope from the Giving Tree in early Lent and return it with their donation via the Sunday collection basket.
Past beneficiaries of the Lenten Giving Tree Program are:
We at St. Isaac Jogues Church and the residents of Hinsdale conduct the Seeds of Service project to feed the needy of our surrounding communities, and beyond. At past years' events, we collected, sorted, and distributed more than 2,000 bags and 10 pallets of food and other needed items to six worthy charities.
To make this happen, our parish enlists 400 volunteers over two Saturdays: 100 to drop off bags on the initial Saturday morning and 300 volunteers to pick up, sort, and deliver the collected bags on the following Saturday.
Check back here or in the church bulletin come Spring for information on how to sign up for the days and times that best work for you, and remember to bring a bag or two filled with any of the below items when you arrive at the St. Isaac’s parking lot to start your shift.
What we give and the service we provide will help those most in need through the below charities, who are always grateful and amazed at the bounty they receive from our parish and town.
Let's all come together to live out our Faith, performing works of charity with our friends and neighbors right here in our backyard, in both giving to and serving the least among us, because of Jesus.

This Eucharistic Procession between the parishes of St. Isaac Jogues in Hinsdale and Notre Dame in Clarendon Hills takes place on Thursday of the week of the Feast of Corpus Christi. It all begins with a 6 pm Mass at the starting parish (which alternates year by year). Then we gather to process with Jesus - priests, nuns, seminarians, deacons, and hundreds of parishioners from both parishes. We sing and pray as we walk in our parade of praise and worship, with a few stops along the way for prayer at altars erected in parishioners' yards.
The Procession closes with an outdoor Benediction, followed by Christian fellowship. Afterward, trolleys (available also along the route for those who can't walk the full duration) take participants back to their cars at the starting church.
Watch the bulletin or parish events calendar for more details about the next Corpus Christi Procession.
Our parish party, held in the St. Isaac Jogues parking lot, is attended by hundreds of our parishioners every year. Enjoy food, beer, wine, games, prizes, live music, a petting zoo, and plenty of Catholic community, all in honor of our Patron Saint.
Bring your unneeded clothing (clean, folded, and bagged) to the annual SIJ clothing drive.
No household items, please.
Donation bags will be available for your use in the back of the Church and in the Narthex.
Drop off will be in the parking lot before and after all Masses on [dates TBD for 2022].
SIJ parishioners always make Christmas special for so many families in need.
Through the Adopt-a-Family program, under-resourced families in the Hinsdale area submit their wish lists for Christmas to be filled by our parishioners. Parishioners are able to select a family to shop for and then return the wrapped (and labeled) gifts to be picked up by the recipients. Watch the bulletin or check back here in early November for more details.

This annual tribute is sponsored by St. Isaac Jogues' Council of Catholic Women and provides parishioners the opportunity to dedicate a luminaria as a silent tribute to loved ones who have passed. The luminarias remain lit from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm in the courtyard and walkways outside of the church. All are welcome to visit the courtyard during this time for a moment of prayer and silent tribute.
Sign-ups for having the name(s) of your loved one listed on a luminaria take place in the weeks leading up to the event. See the weekly bulletin in October for the form.
