Thanks to everyone who made the third annual Seeds of Service another huge success. This year was our biggest effort yet, where more than 400 volunteers distributed 4500 empty bags on all the homes in Hinsdale then collected more than 2000 bags full of food and other needed items, sorted the items, then loaded and delivered them to 5 worthy charities.
We again received generous donations several of our parishioners, including several thousands of pounds of bulk food donations from Kevin Boyle, Bob Buddig, and another parishioner wishing to remain anonymous, with the t-shirts donated by Tom Lavins and the bags from Standard Market.
Together the parishioners of St Isaacs came together as a family of families, uniting with the larger Hinsdale community to help those most in need, those served by the Missionaries of Charity, the Little Sisters of the Poor, HCS Family Services, Peoples Resource Center, and the Red Lake Mission.
It was inspiring and gratifying to see what happens when good people come together to perform acts of Christian service, doing as Christ said to go out into the deep and lower your nets for a great catch.
Please plan on participating in our next event, our candlelight Corpus Christi Procession on Thursday May 26th, right after the 6:00 pm Mass at St. Isaacs, where we again go outside the four walls of our Church and take Christ into the streets. Go to http://sij.net to sign up and to see what it’s all about.
